BRAND IDEAS
COME FROM

Ultimately, only a big brand
idea matters. It's the reason
you hire a strategic partner
in the first place. And that
begins and ends with working
with the right people.

We keep things simple, relying on a tight team of uniquely talented brand planners, writers, designers and technologists. Brains are important. Experience is essential. Processes are necessary. But ultimately, only a big idea matters. And that begins and ends with working with the right people.

Benjamin  Bensimon President, Creative Director   One of the most respected members of the Canadian advertising industry, Ben has been making brands famous for over 25 years. UPS delivery trucks. Sunlight detergent. Lexus, Canon, Toyota. All have benefitted from Ben’s insight and clean, purposeful brand campaigns. Along the way, he's earned a little fame for himself, too. He has won most of the industry’s major awards and has been running his own agency, Bensimon Partners, since 2002. He has taught art direction at OCAD University and served as National Chair, Communications, B’nai Brith Canada. He considers his finest creative work to be his children.
Lesley  Cherry Director of Operations   Lesley is responsible for ensuring that Bensimon Partners runs as smoothly and effectively as possible, providing guidance on day-to-day operations of the company, developing and reviewing company procedures and protocols, and driving initiatives that increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the agency and contribute to long-term operational excellence. In short, Lesley runs the place. She’s the one everyone’s nice to.
Robbie  Russell Graphic Designer   Robbie may be the closest we have to a Renaissance Man at Bensimon Partners. Trained as a graphic designer at Seneca College, Robbie is also a web-designer extraordinaire. This means he is expert in new media, web architecture and graphic design. He is a triple threat who makes zeroes and ones speak the language of consumers and clients alike. For Robbie, there is no 'traditional' or 'digital'. They’re all just part of one seamless world that could stand to be designed a bit better.
Aliya  Usmani Graphic Designer   Aliya is an IT wiz with a gift for graphic design. When she isn't making information flow more effectively between servers, networks and computers, she's busy designing anything and everything she can get her hands in order to make brands and corporate identities come alive.
Paul  Rosenman Finance   Watch Paul's eyes light up when you mention 'Cost Control.' His reputation for stellar financial management at leading advertising agencies in the United States and Canada spans 25 years. There's no doubt Paul has a gift for making the complexities of agency finances clear and simple.
Andy  Manson Creative Director   About 18 years and one UBC business degree ago, Andy decided to pursue a career in the creative department of an advertising agency instead of the marketing department of a client. Why help one company when you can have an impact on several? Dentyne, Coco-Cola, Cadbury, MasterCard, GM, Labbatt, Goldman Sachs and Four Seasons Hotels each owe a debt of thanks for this decision and for Andy’s talent as a writer and conceptual thinker. When not building brands, Andy is cooking Italian with his girlfriend Francesca and her 98 first cousins.
John  Tisdall Design Director   John is a man of very few words. But that’s ok, he’s a visual ideas guy, passionate about craft and attention to detail. Arriving in Toronto from Ireland via London, England, in 2006 with wife and two children in tow, John wasted no time becoming BBDO Toronto's Design Director on FedEx, Campbell's, Royal Bank of Canada and Mercedes-Benz. Back in the UK, as Head of Design at AMVBBDO (he’ll tell you what that stands for if you ask him), John worked on little-known brands like Guinness, Nike, The Economist, Volvo, Virgin Atlantic, The BBC, Land Rover, British Telecom, Lloyds Bank, Marks & Spencer and Sony PlayStation. If you have heard of any of these brands, John is largely responsible.
Wade  Hesson Writer   For 15 years Wade's words have turned strategies into increased sales and memorable brands. As a senior writer, he has crafted inventive, persuasive campaigns for Labatt, SONY and General Motors, among others. He's not only made his clients’ brands famous, he’s also built a stellar reputation as a writer for himself.
Deborah  Hutchison Production Manager   Deborah is Bensimon Partners’ Production Manager and Chief Stickler for Detail. She has printed for some very well-known names like Sony, Kellogg’s, MAC Cosmetics, University of Toronto, Princess Margaret Hospital, RBC/Moore Canada, Canaccord Genuity, Romspen Mortgage Investment Fund and many more. After more than 20 years in the business, Deborah is still in awe of the capabilities of an offset printing press. Her flair for putting a designer’s dreams on paper would make Johannes Gutenberg very proud.
Craig  Dawson Media Director   When you consider the upheaval in the media landscape over the past 10 years, Craig may just have the toughest job at Bensimon Partners. Fortunately, he’s more than up to the challenge. At the tender age of 28 he became one of Canada's youngest media directors. For the next 20 years, Craig forged a stellar reputation for developing product strategies as well as planning and buying media for tier-1 agencies including WPP's Excelerator Media where he was V.P., General Manager. Along the way, Craig launched new products and created new markets for a vast array of household names like Tim Hortons, American Airlines, Scott Paper, Kmart, Novartis and Nestle, in both Canada and the United States.
Bill  Parker Writer   Bill Parker began his career working for disciples of advertising legend Bill Bernbach, and has become a devout follower himself. For over 20 years Bill has honed his craft as a writer and creative director for clients including Lexus, Nikon, Toyota, Scotiabank (does, 'You’re Richer Than You Think' ring a bell?) and Bell. His awards include One Show Pencils, Cannes Lions and a whack of other hardware.
